Description
Boyd Watterson is seeking a Vice President to assist in a growing platform of investment vehicles focused primarily on properties leased to the General Services Administration. The VP will report to the Senior Vice President – Acquisitions in the Chicago office and will be a critical member of the acquisitions team. This candidate will have the opportunity to join a rapidly growing real estate team and have the opportunity to grow with the company. The candidate will be expected to provide analytical and strategic support to the acquisitions team in various capacities. Responsibilities could include but are not limited to:
- Leading and managing the due diligence process for numerous transactions at once with the support of more junior team members
- Sourcing, screening, and pricing prospective acquisitions
- Spearheading the preparation and writing of Investment Committee memorandums, and presenting opportunities to the Investment Committee
- Communicating with outside brokers, sellers, and consultants on various deal-related items
- Working with buyer- and seller-side legal counsel in the negotiation and preparation of purchase agreements and legal due diligence
- Performing special ad hoc projects and analyses
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Real Estate from a respected university
- 8-10 years of transactional experience in commercial real estate acquisitions
- Must have a strong understanding of the complete acquisition process, from deal sourcing through closing
- Advanced ARGUS and Microsoft Excel skills, including proven ability to create or adapt Excel models to unique transaction characteristics, and knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Strong writing and communication skills with experience in writing analytical emails, presenting to senior executives, and creating, preparing, and formatting models and materials for review by senior investment professionals
- A successful candidate must be proactive, able to balance many tasks at a given time, and provide polished, accurate, and comprehensive work in a timely manner without a significant amount of direction. He or she must be able to identify potential issues and independently work to solve them.
