The Role:  The Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer is an integral member of the executive team and is responsible for all accounting, tax, financial, risk management, and support functions of the Company. 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Capital Markets:
    1. Maintain and grow relationships with commercial banks and lenders.
    2. Recommend lenders and negotiate, close, and administer mortgages and portfolio loans.
    3. Optimize project level debt to minimize cost of capital, limit recourse, and control risk.
    4. Manage equity relationships, both current and future.
    5. Work in conjunction with the Founder and President on equity raises.
    6. Forecast and analyze the company’s future capital needs.
  2. Accounting:
    1. Manage team of accounting professionals and external firms in the preparation of financial statements.
    2. Ensure complete accuracy of all financial statements, reports, and projections.
    3. Manage timely, accurate, and easily understood loan draw processes.
    4. Use innovative technology solutions to efficiently process A/R, A/P, approvals, payments, and reporting.
    5. Guide the application of financial analysis techniques (included IRR, discounted cash flow, income capitalization, equity waterfalls etc.) for potential and actual investments and initiatives.
  3. Tax Compliance and Strategy:
    1. Lead the Company’s interaction with outside advisors and auditors and make
    2. strategic tax suggestion for all investments.
    3. Understand and apply federal and state tax regulations to company transactions for tax efficiency and compliance.
    4. Guide the company through Opportunity Zone regulations and compliance.
    5. Manage owner and investor tax liability with both near and long-term perspectives.
  4. Financial Management and Strategy:
    1. Lead financial analysis team for the creation of proforma projections for projects.
    2. Update investor and Company returns for various potential project outcomes.
    3. Ensure the preparation and evaluation of performance against operating and capital budgets.
    4. Understand economic conditions and the potential impact on executing the business plan.
  5. Reporting:
    1. Create, analyze, interpret, and communicate monthly the monthly executive package.
    2. Prepare high quality monthly and quarterly reporting packages for investors and JV partners.
    3. Produce forward looking cash projection for the company and all affiliates.
  6. Risk Management
    1. Ensure proper insurance coverages and risk mitigation tools for D&O insurance, general liability, property level insurance, builder’s risk insurance, etc.
    2. Manage vendor and broker selection to ensure appropriate coverage at competitive cost.
  7. Support Functions
    1. Human Resources:  Leverage third party consultants and benefits coordinators to ensure compliance and manage annual benefits selections.
    2. Information Technology:  Ensure innovative technology solutions. Manage third party IT vendor to ensure 99%+ uptime for all associates and industry leading hardware and software solutions.

 

Education:  BS/BA in accounting or finance.  CPA and/or MBA required.

 

Experience:  15+ years of experience across accounting, reporting, planning and analysis, treasury, capital markets and investor relations.  Commercial real estate background required, ideally with a REIT or other complex organization. 

 

Reports To:  President and Chief Investment Officer.

 

Working Hours:  Normal working hours with an understanding that occasional work will be require work outside of business hours.
