We are seeking a Vice President – Member Services & Amenities for our San Diego office. We are looking for a highly organized, creative and experienced professional who is interested in joining a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Vice President – Member Services & Amenities will be responsible for overseeing the member services and amenities portfolio in San Diego, including twelve food and beverage venues, eighty-two event spaces, and eight gyms, encompassing more than one hundred thousand square feet across seventeen different properties. Akin to a Head of Operations or General Manager role in the hospital industry, this position will be leading our vendors, engaging with our tenants, and overseeing all hospitality-based operations, events, and services. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented self-starter who can effectively and efficiently multi-task and consistently use sound judgment in the stewardship of great customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operations:
    • General Duties: Ensure the successful operation of Alexandria’s hospitality-related member services to our tenants and communities in San Diego, including strategic programing, vendor management, budgeting, and providing first class service to our customers.
    • Food and Beverage Venues: Responsible for managing the vendors, staff, venues, quality control, and the related budgets.
    • Fitness & Wellness Centers: Responsible for managing vendors, staff, venues, quality control, and the related budgets. 
      • Develop and implement a robust wellness program for our tenant base. 
      • Continue to innovate our wellness offerings.
    • Property Budgets: Ensure all amenities previously described are correctly budgeted.
    • Vendor Selection and Contracting: Find and negotiate contracts with all vendors that relate to the amenities program.
    • Policies: Create policies and procedures to enhance Alexandria’s level of service.
  • Meetings and Events:
    • Operator Management: Manage the regional event and conferencing operator, ensuring efficient operations and a high quality of service. 
    • Tenant Events: Lead a team in creating custom curated tenant events
    • Industry Events: Coordinate and plan to ensure a fluid execution of VIP events, which include, but are not limited to overall execution of logistical items, selection of venues and vendors, reservations, RSVP, developing content/agenda, etc.
    • Event Planning: Lead and successfully execute multiple events including, but not limited to:
      • Grand opening of properties
      • Quarterly events by submarket
  • Development:
    • General Duties: Lead the regional strategy, tenant experience, and customer insights teams for the member services and amenities in San Diego.
    • Real Estate Growth: Oversee operational development of upcoming property openings while maintaining existing properties.
    • Analytics: Collect, sort, analyze, and report on deep user analytics across our member services and amenities programs to understand demand, user preferences, and predictive analytics to guide growth and use insights.
  • Communications & Branding:
    • Branding: Effectively and continually contribute to the ongoing effort to brand Alexandria at San Diego at each of its owned assets.
    • Presentations: Work with Marketing to develop regional presentations and proposals that reflect the vision and branding of Alexandria’s mission.
    • Marketing: Ensure that the proper marketing materials are created and distributed: Basket of ideas including press, signage, communications with tenants, logo’s, etc.
    • Alexandria Representation: Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner in support of coordinating successful events and/or conferences.
    • Tenant Relations: Develop, interact, and communicate with current and prospective tenants, vendors, contractors, and other project team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of practical working experience in event management, planning, hospitality, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related field preferred.
  • Event planning experience a must.  Other job experience of value:
    • Hotel/Club General Manager
    • Head of Operations
    • Director of Catering / Food & Beverage / Sales / Outlets
    • Resort Manager
  • Local experience and networks, highly desired.
  • Candidates must possess a professional image with proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and follow through is critical.
  • Results-oriented, extremely proactive and highly responsive with great attention to detail; strong and efficient work ethic.
  • Excellent presentation skills a must.
  • Skills in negotiating a plus.
  • Verbal and written communications are critical and required with demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interact both internally with other Company members, and externally with prospective tenants, vendors, consultants and other team members.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and support the team as needed.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
  • Highly motivated and resourceful.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
