Part-time Accountant

Midwest-based Boutique Real Estate Development Firm
Remote with preference for regional home base

 

 

Oxide Real Estate Development is an urban real estate investment and development company founded in 2016. We invest in, redevelop and develop boutique multifamily, creative office and street retail projects within targeted urban neighborhoods of Pittsburgh and Columbus. Oxide is an entrepreneurial firm grounded by an institutional approach to investing. We are a growing firm, with a portfolio of stabilized and stabilizing boutique properties and a mid-size boutique ground-up multifamily project under development.

 

We are expanding and looking for an Accountant who will bring our accounting function in-house and be responsible for all accounting responsibilities related to real estate investment and development entities and an operating business entity. This is a part-time position with flexible hours and the flexibility of working remotely, with the potential to become a full-time role.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for maintaining Quick Books Online accounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for A/R and A/P functions
  • Manage bank accounts and property-level cash balances
  • Maintain investor equity schedules
  • Manage tax returns and K-1s distribution process with tax preparers for partners, investors and lenders
  • Issue distributions to equity investors
  • Maintain appropriate insurance policies across property portfolio
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports due to joint venture partners, investors and lenders
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and track actuals
  • Manage loan administration including paying debt service, monitoring escrow balances and providing quarterly reports to lenders as required
  • Manage Monthly Rent billing/collection process, oversee pass-thru billings, legal proceedings for non-payment and Lease Administration for new transactions

  • Assist with asset management by supporting operations and business plan implementation for properties
  • Manage the setup of books, accounts, and required processes for newly acquired properties
  • Manage tenant accounting including move-outs, deposit returns and tenant issues
  • Assist with lender loan draw preparation for project financings

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in the real estate industry
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and analytical

 

Part-time role anticipated roughly 20 hours per week; $25+/hour based on experience and qualifications. Could be either an employee or contractor (1099) role as desired.
