Analyst

Firm:  Fifield Companies (“Fifield”) is a Chicago based commercial real estate firm actively developing apartment communities across the country.  Fifield was founded in 1977 and has developed over 70 buildings across the nation comprised of more than 21 million-square feet valued at $7 billion, including 7,000 apartment units.

Position:  The firm is currently seeking an Analyst to work in the Chicago office to join its Finance and Asset Management teams in the pursuit of new multifamily development opportunities and the continued asset management of its completed multifamily assets.  Responsibilities include:

• Perform cash flow modeling and produce financial proformas;
• Assist in the creation of annual operating budgets, and review operating statements and variances to budget for completed properties;
• Gather, analyze and summarize market data, comparable property information and demographics;
• Gather, review and organize due diligence materials;
• Support the day-to-day asset management of completed properties;
• Evaluate marketing, leasing and capital improvement projects;
• Assist in preparing investment memorandums and transaction summaries;
• Create and update ongoing reporting to investors and lenders;
• Assist in creating investment level and company level presentations
• Assist in the acquisition and disposition process of real estate assets;
• Other tasks and/or projects as needed.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of commercial real estate, especially in regards to multi-family apartments, with exceptional analytic ability, strong communication skills and attention to detail. Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant professional experience;
• Proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
• Understands capital structures and return metrics common to real estate investments;
• Familiar with third-party data providers such as CoStar;
• Excellent writer and verbal communicator;
• Engaged team player;
• Proactive in seeking support from team members;
• Ability to work independently and to manage ambiguity and complexity;
• Excels in fast-paced, deadline-driven and collaborative environment.
