If you are a dynamic professional with a passion for public service, join the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Real Estate team as an Associate Director, Transaction Management and be an essential part of North America’s largest public transportation organization. 

MTA Real Estate manages and leases retail spaces that range from travel/convenience retail and cafes to bookstores, full-service restaurants, parking lots and industrial spaces throughout the MTA’s service area of 5,000 square miles with about 15.1 million residents.

The Associate Director is a key role that will manage the acquisition of property rights necessary to support, improve and expand transportation facilities; support the MTA Capital Program through the acquisition of property; generate revenue for the MTA Bridges & Tunnels, MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad and MTA NYC Transit; negotiate contracts of sale of purchase, leases, licenses and other agreements in support of the MTA transit system.  This position will collaborate with property owners and municipalities across the region to promote development at and around transit stations that increase accessibility and provide housing and public improvements.  In addition, the Associate Director will effectively manage and work with external consultants, brokers and other external providers of goods and services and conduct all transactions with professionalism, integrity and high ethical standards.

The successful candidate will have working knowledge of valuing cash flows and financial calculations that pertain to real estate; proven knowledge of real estate leasing and acquisitions, financing and management principles, as well as a familiarity with reading maps, blueprints and surveys; a proven ability to successfully lead small teams; exceptional organization skills and the ability to analyze, comment, interpret, negotiate  and draft real estate documents. 

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Real Estate Development, Architecture or Urban Planning and a minimum of (5) years of progressive, relevant work experience is required.  Experience successfully managing small, project-driven teams and exceptional organization skills, with proven results, is also required.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in property acquisition of both land and building;
  • Knowledge of federal funding acquisition requirements;
  • Master’s degree in Real Estate, Real Estate Development, Architecture or Urban Planning, with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial real estate.
