The Department:

Invesco Real Estate is recognized for providing forward-looking views on the markets under its coverage. Our strategy process is integrated into the investment decision making process and supports all parts of the business. Our deep market knowledge is showcased in our semi-annual House View reports, which analyses demographic, economic and real estate market data, to produce market rental growth, yield, and total return forecasts.

Your Role:

The role of Strategic Analytics is to work with the Regional CIO and the Regional Investment Strategists to develop analytical resources which improve investment decision making, and therefore investment performance. As such, the role encompasses the creation of data analytical tools, both as long-term development projects and shorter-term reactive analyses, as well as communicating the outputs of these analyses to investment teams.

This role sits within the US Strategic Analytics team, based in Dallas, working closely with the US Regional Investment Strategists and the global Strategic Analytics team to deliver strategic support on a US markets to all areas of the US and global businesses (i.e. fund management, transactions, asset management, client relationship management).

The role requires a data-driven strategic thinker, capable of utilizing data to develop analytic tools to formulate clear and actionable investment strategies. Prior work experience within a real estate environment, ideally within real estate fund management, is preferred.

You will be responsible for:

  • To work with other members of the business on the formulation of analysis to support real estate strategy
  • Identify, integrate, and analyze both real estate data sources and non-standard data sources to develop analytical tools
  • Proactively assist with the development of Invesco Real Estate’s strategic analytic tools and House Views
  • Maintain specialist knowledge of economic trends, markets, and sectors
  • Undertake special projects as assigned. Such projects could include gathering / analyzing information for new investment possibilities, individual or thematic market reports analysis, etc.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

    The experience you bring:

    • Experience of working in a real estate environment is preferred, ideally with a real estate fund manager
    • Experience of data analysis in US real estate markets would be a benefit
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, and an ability to present technical analysis and strategic insights in a clear and concise manner
    • 4+ years’ experience in data science and analytics, and adept at statistical programming in python and/or R
    • Very familiar with SQL and querying databases. Experience working with cloud technologies such as Snowflake & AWS, and/ or big data technologies (Spark / Hadoop) would be an advantage
    • Experience with statistical modeling packages and tools
    • Familiar with supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms. Advantageous would be experience with any of: NLP, web scraping, operations research, visual learning, time-series forecasting, geospatial, ML/AI, unstructured data, graph databases
    • Experience telling data stories with data visualization tools, and able to communicate effectively with business stakeholders to generate value from models and tools
    • Self-motivated, intellectually inquisitive, organized with flexibility regarding travel and working hours if necessary to meet important deadlines. Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple projects and tight deadlines
    • Compliance awareness and knowledge: Learns to understand and strictly adheres to relevant Invesco procedures manuals. Develops practical and up-to-date knowledge of the relevant regulatory and statutory environment and other relevant regulations as to how they may impact on investment market pricing
    • Appropriate level of numeracy and accuracy: Continuously checks own work for accuracy and attention to detail / Works accurately under intense time pressure.
    • Applies a logical and structured approach to all tasks / Displays a “feel” for checking and validating investment data
    • Serving the customer: Quickly and easily assimilates data and information to solve client queries / Remains calm and professional when dealing with difficult people/issues
    • Challenges views and solves problems: Independent mind, with an ability to challenge views and pro-actively seek solutions
    • Contribution to projects: Co-ordinates and monitors tasks / Manages own tasks in a structured fashion / Identifies problems and takes corrective action / Keeps sponsor informed of progress/issues
    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field
    • A Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative field would be an advantage
