Description


We are looking for a Chemist to join our team working at our client site in Indianapolis. We are looking for a candidate with in-depth knowledge of analytical and/or organic chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to independently perform multiple laboratory functions and produce results for the client in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct routine analyses in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs, and

regulatory agency guidelines.

Development of both quantitative and qualitative HPLC methods

LC-MS analysis in support of synthetic molecule development and interpretation of results

Preparative HPLC purification/isolation of process impurities and degradation products

Purification of small molecules, synthetic peptides, oligonucleotides

Operation of a variety of instrumentation to generate comprehensive and high-quality
analytical results
Instrumentation may include Liquid handling systems, HPLC, preparative HPLC,
UPLC, Mass spectrometers

Support minor instrument repairs, setup, software troubleshooting, and/or routine
maintenance

Preparation of laboratory reagents

Assist in development of new processes and improvement in existing processes

Perform method analysis and development with quick turnaround times.

Perform daily work activities with computer programs which may include Chemstation,
Empower, and Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Document laboratory work appropriately in laboratory notebooks and/or technical reports

Contribute to a healthy, supportive, work culture

Perform other lab duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry or a related field.

Prior experience with HPLC desirable

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Experience with automation equipment is a plus but not required.

Requires specialist knowledge, training, and experience related to analytical instrumentation to include selected technique groups such as HPLC, GC, Liquid Handling, Automation, Optical Systems, Biology and Chemistry Analyzers.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.

Sample analysis completed with understanding of equipment, procedures, and company policies to achieve results and deadlines for customer.
