Prime Finance has reached an inflection point in its growth trajectory which presents an immediate opportunity to accelerate that growth through further expansion of existing and new credit strategies as well as extensive investment in internal processes, systems, and resources.
 
Job Summary:
Prime Finance is looking for a collaborative and motivated Corporate Controller to join the Accounting team based in San Francisco. This individual should possess an accounting and people-leadership background as well as a self-starter mentality. At minimum, ten years of experience in a previous accounting role with direct report oversight is required, and experience with private equity fund accounting is preferred.
 
The position will interact with and collaborate with the greater Accounting, Treasury, Tax, and Investor Relations functions. The position will work cross-functionally and build relationships with team members from other departments, external advisors, and members of the management team.

 

 
Essential Functions:
  • Lead the corporate accounting and treasury teams, which consists of two managers as direct reports and five staff
  • Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
  • Manage and review monthly close and quarter-end financial reporting for corporate entities and general partner of investment funds
  • Provide guidance to corporate and treasury accountants and review the recording of transactions into the general ledger, including complex multiple entity allocations and related journal entries
  • Assist in defining allocation standards / guidance and coordinate with business teams to ensure expenses are appropriately allocated amongst different business units
  • Review monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, bank reconciliation and other schedules primarily related to intercompany receivables and payables, and capital
  • Coordinate with tax department and review information for quarterly tax estimates and annual tax returns
  • Assist and advise corporate accounting team to address non-routine / supplemental reporting requests made by senior management or the Chief Compliance Officer
  • Coordinate and review schedules for the annual corporate audit
  • Oversee and lead strong relationships between the corporate accounting function and various other functions, ensuring efficient workflows and positive departmental feedback
  • Hire, develop, and retain a high performing team, handling issues with professionalism and integrity
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or commensurate work experience required
  • 10+ years of related accounting experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in an investment fund setting
  • 5+ years of experience hiring, developing, and retaining a high performing accounting team
  • The ideal candidate must be a hands-on leader – enthusiastic, pro-active, poised and patient, ability to listen, teach and lead
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor accounting managers and staff
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexible and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of our investors', partners', and internal affairs
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management
  • Team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with appropriate parties
  • Ability to understand, review and provide guidance on intercompany transactions on a multi-ledger accounting system
  • Experience in consolidated and combined financial statements preparation and analysis, as well as ad hoc reporting to support management decision making
  • Previous experience interacting with external auditors required
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with a particular focus on MS Excel required (pivot tables, sumifs, index/match, etc.)
  • Experience using Yardi or other accounting GL and Financial Reporting systems preferred
 
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $175,000 - $260,000. Actual base salary will be determined by several components, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills and qualifications, base salary of internal peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and a variety of financial, wellbeing, and health / welfare benefits.
