Aareal Capital Corporation is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst who will be responsible for actively monitoring and assisting with the existing loan portfolio, but with the opportunity for growth as we scale up our lending operations.  Said opportunities may include additional responsibilities and assumption of more senior roles.

Aareal Capital Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Aareal Bank AG, a publicly traded bank based in Germany that focuses on commercial real estate lending in North America, Europe and Asia.  Aareal Capital offers mortgage and mezzanine financing and has a CRE loan book over $8 billion.  Target markets include most major metropolitans in the contiguous 48 states.

Principal Tasks

Portfolio Management

•        Collect, spread and analyze commercial rent rolls on a continual basis

•        Gather and compare actual hotel performance figures versus budget

•        Directly communicate with clients to ascertain changes to the property cash flow, e.g., new tenancy, tenant rollover, etc.

•        Assist the credit and origination departments in processing credit applications, periodic loan reviews and ad hoc credit requests
•        Update internal risk systems and perform continuous review of allocated loan portfolio
•        Review covenant compliance tests and loan documents

•        Prepare internal credit ratings and annual financial statement analyses incl. assessing borrower/guarantor creditworthiness

•        Annually review loan collateral in terms of valuation

•        Furnish documentation for various internal compliance and audit procedures

•        Maintain credit files to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of information

 

Secondary Role

Key Project Member

•        Assist in building out nascent credit-analyst group
•        Leverage existing technologies to improve automation, operations and portfolio/risk management
•        Research and evaluate emerging technologies and tools for portfolio management and risk analysis

•        Develop linkages between internal and market data
•        Perform ad hoc portfolio analysis

•        Ultimately increase transparency of risks in loan portfolio 

 

 

Qualifications

•           Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with a minimum of two years of Credit/Portfolio Management experience in the Commercial Real Estate field

•           Strong understanding and knowledge of financial statements.  Focus on equity ratios, changes in equity, debt-service coverage ratios, and cash flows

•           Demonstrated ability to write concise financial analyses and credit memoranda.  Said experience may include writing deal summaries, underwriting narratives, or investment-committee memos

•           Certification in ARGUS.  Excellent Excel skills, especially with underwriting models.  Coding, such as Python or SQL, or AI experience, such as ChatGPT or UiPath, a plus

•           Attention to detail with strong interpersonal skills

•           Organizational and time-management skills

•           Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
