Duties & Responsibilities:
The Vice President of Investments position is based in Los Angeles and includes primary responsibility for real estate investment underwriting, execution and asset management. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Analysis of entitlements and environmental issues, construction budgets and schedules, financial projections and appraisals
- Developing cash flow models and valuation analyses
- Preparation and presentation of underwriting memos
- Negotiating credit agreements and other transaction documents; facilitating pre- and post-closing transaction processes, coordinating with legal counsel, appraisers, auditors, consultants and other deal service providers
- Reviewing loan funding requests in coordination with service providers
- Monitoring the performance of existing assets
- Developing and implementing strategies for special situations
- Maintaining financial projections for individual assets
- Analyzing management accounts and financial statements
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reports to investors
Qualifications/Skills/Attributes:
- No less than 8 years’ experience in real estate investments (equity or debt) or financial advisory or financial restructuring with exposure to real estate
- Conversant with different types of credit instruments (senior mortgage loans, A/B notes, repos, and subordinated / mezzanine loans)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to review and analyze legal documents
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting; strong analytical/modeling skills
- Possesses strong deal and/or capital sourcing networks
- Ability to negotiate under pressure
- Ability to manage expectations and concerns of clients and capital partners
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage work across multiple supervisors
- Strong professional writing skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Outstanding academic credentials from a top-tier university
