Harbor Group Management Company, a Norfolk, Virginia based real estate investment and property management firm, has an immediate need for an Asset Management Analyst – Debt Investment at corporate office in New York City.  Are you the one?

 

The Role.

As our Asset Management Analyst – Debt Investments you will be expected to provide analytical and administrative support for a variety of asset management function across the company’s real estate debt investment portfolio. While working closely with the Asset Management team and interact with the other corporate teams including Property Management, Investor Relations and Accounting.  

 

The Purpose.

You will work directly with the Vice President Debt Investments to ensure expectations are met for all deliverables.

 

The Key Responsibilities.

  • Provide monthly financial and variance analysis for the mezzanine loan, preferred equity, and debt securities portfolio as well as general loan serving support.
  • Provide ad hoc asset level and portfolio level financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, and market research. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of leases, loan documents, partnership agreements, and other agreements to assist with general responsibilities.
  • Prepare and circulate monthly asset management reports for each investment.
  • Compile and review Real-Insight online platform reports to populate and analyze the KFRED bond portfolio.
  • Participate in monthly calls to review loans with special servicers.
  • Oversee and maintain key dates tracking report; keep loan files up to date; follow up with borrowers to ensure all reporting and other obligations are current.
  • Support quarterly investor reporting activities and assist with Q&A with the investor relations group. 
  • Assist in the underwriting review, documentation, monitoring before loan closings.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly draw requests.
  • Assist on yearly loan site visits.
  • Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by Harbor Group Management Company

The Basics.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in real estate and/or finance; experience in a debt platform overseeing senior and mezzanine loans preferred
  • Previous real estate financial analysis and modeling experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of real estate accounting and financial statement analysis, preferred.
  • Experience abstracting loan documents and leases, preferred
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An investment mindset with a thorough understanding of financial calculations such as NPV, DCF, and IRR.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word requited; proficiency with Argus and MRI a plus.
  • Good written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • A team player who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to balance competing priorities. Able to work with time sensitive, detail-oriented material and meet multiple deadlines.
  • The ability to travel frequently.
