Our Opportunity:

Schwab Corporate Real Estate (CRE) provides safe, reliable and effective facilities that support the Company’s business needs.  We oversee a portfolio of over 5 million square feet consisting of over 330 offices.  Our services include facility management, property management, project management, design, construction, transaction management and lease administration. 

What you’ll do:

The Managing Director of Finance is responsible for developing and managing Corporate Real Estate’s annual operating and capital budget preparation, monthly forecasting, and management reporting.

Day-to-Day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Directs and oversees budgeting and forecasting processes as well as standard management reporting, working closely with other CRE teams as well as our third party service provider
  • Leads the monthly close process and prepare variance reports
  • Ensures complete knowledge of monthly results. Directs staff in preparation of results presentation to CRE management and Central Finance partners.
  • Closely manages financial performance, adapting to or actively shifting expense and capital timing as necessary
  • Partners closely with various finance and accounting personnel to ensure all financial statements reporting requirements are met, both for current and future accounting standards
  • Creates strong internal control systems, policies and procedures to appropriately to ensure proper governance/approvals and to carefully manage the firm’s assets
  • Interface with internal and external auditors
  • Ensures all monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are met as well as accurate and timely satisfaction of all lease required financial obligations
  • Assesses staffing levels and skill sets to evaluate department needs. Identifies and provides development opportunities for staff.

What you have:

Required skills/experience:

  • Background in Real Estate Finance with a keen understanding of the industry and related financial management/accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • 10+ years of related experience in a finance or analytical role
  • Understanding of corporate finance theory, financial markets and financial statement analysis
  • Strong Excel skills, with an understanding of financial modeling best practices
  • Proven superior analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Sound business judgment and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in working with business partners
  • Proactive self-starter and team player who can work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred skills/experience:

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Experience in financial services industry
