Our client is a large institutional lender, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team is looking for a full time consultant candidate to help support the Structured Real Estate division.
 

Line of Business: Real Estate Capital Markets within the Structured Real Estate division of CRE specializes in originating commercial real estate loans intended for CMBS securitization, but also has the ability to lend on the balance sheet. The group originates loans in all major markets across the US on varying property types and with loan amounts ranging from $1 million  to over $1B.

 

Job Description/Responsibilities: Responsible for underwriting the largest and most complex loan requests. Participates in the establishment of policy and procedures. As submitted by originators usually in a defined geographic area, reviews and approves loan quotes, applications, and rate lock agreements. Assists loan originators in the negotiation of quotes and applications. Provides support in the marketing activities of loan originators. Performs property inspections on larger and more complex transactions. Analyzes credit of tenants and borrowers. Assists Loan Administration in the negotiation of documents and the closing of loans. Either approves (depending on loan authorities) or makes recommendations for prospective loans. Involved in the delivery and presentation of pooled loans to rating agencies and investors.

 

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience underwriting all commercial real estate property types and communicating with outside investors in explaining underwriting methodology applied in the evaluation of funded loans with a minimum of 10 years of property financial statement analysis. Individual must have extensive real estate industry knowledge and proven analytical skills, strong risk return judgment, discipline and understanding with respect to deployment of capital.  The position also requires strong leadership skills in order to manage internal staff and external parties in meeting established funding deadlines. Proven interpersonal skills are also necessary to both provide a finished product through a cooperative effort and to provide assistance in marketing the underwriting strength of the group, to outside parties.  CMBS origination or underwriting experience strongly preferred.
