BACKGROUND:

The NCRC Housing Rehab Fund (the “Fund”) is a social mission-driven, private equity fund dedicated to providing pathways to homeownership for low- and moderate-income (LMI) families or on behalf of low- and moderate-income communities.  The Fund focuses on identifying and acquiring single family houses in various parts of the country that are rehabbed into quality, affordable homes and sold to low- and moderate-income (LMI) families. The Fund also does new, single-family construction.  The Fund has been operating for three years and is aggressively expanding its investment program geographically to reach more affordable home buyers.

The Fund is an affiliate of NCRC’s Development Corporation and is tasked to carry out NCRC’s signature community development initiative: GROWTH (Generating Real Opportunities for Work Through Housing). 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

GROWTH has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Bookkeeper to join our team. In order to sustain our rapid growth, we are in need of candidates who bring innovative thinking and thrive in a fast-paced working environment. Additionally, qualified candidates will need to be organized, goal-oriented and ambitious. We seek the most talented professionals to help foster a culture of creativity and growth. 

This opportunity provides a Bookkeeper a meaningful role assisting all Accounting and reporting functions for 7 related entities. The selected candidate will be exposed to all aspects of residential real estate investment.  GROWTH is an internally managed real estate company, focused on acquiring, renovating, building and leasing single-family homes.  This position will have a strong emphasis on managing large volumes of data, efficient data entry, and operational compliance. 

The position will report to the Controller. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and post daily Accounts Payable.  Maintain requisite files and documentation
  • Manage property related vendor accounts, such as utilities and property services
  • Maintain and prepare vendor files.  Manage year end 1099 preparation
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit process
  • Assist partners and team members with time-sensitive, ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Skills

  • High degree of proficiency with Excel and an ability to create in-depth financial analyses via modeling.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access and PowerPoint
  • Proficient with Intuit Quickbooks
  • Strong grasp of real estate concepts
  • Highly-developed verbal and written-communication skills
  • Strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; team-oriented
  • Comfort and familiarity with basic finance and accounting theory
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Completed bachelor's degree with focus in  Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Business Management, or requisite experience demonstrated through past work performance. Advanced degrees or certifications a plus but not required


Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Bookkeeper in a real estate or construction firm.
