Title: Property Accountant

General Purpose/Summary of Job:
The Property Accountant is responsible for completing the processes necessary to meet monthly internal and quarterly external SEC reporting requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of (i) accounting for assigned portfolio of properties and (ii) company reporting objectives
- Prepare, monitor, and adjust monthly journal entries, accruals, and recovery estimates
- Maintain and monitor books and records of each assigned property
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual budget/actual variance reports to validate data and interpret results for senior management
- Prepare detailed quarterly and year end support work papers
- Interface with the company's internal and external auditors and personnel throughout the company to maintain the proper flow of information
- Assist with creation of new processes as necessary to help ensure departmental efficiency
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets and re-forecasts
- Assure individual financial statements required under the terms of our various loan agreements are prepared timely in accordance with GAAP and other loan reporting requirements
- Complete job functions as outlined within SOX documentation and participate in updates for process modifications, and ensure compliance throughout the year
- Participate in recording property acquisitions, as required
- Ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed
Job Qualifications:
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with MRI accounting software a plus
Education/Experience:
- College Degree in Accounting.
- Current accounting experience, preferably in the commercial real estate industry or in a medium to large CPA firm.
